Food security for sustainable household livelihoods (FoSHoL)

The program was being implemented in partnership with the Practical Action-Bangladesh (PAB) funded by the EC since May’06. It is mainly focused on food security of the poor. The organization was working in 3 upazillas (Jamalpur sadar, Islampur and Dewanganj) in Jamalpur district with the program activities. The activities of the program were mentioned bellow –

– Group formation and development
– Group meeting discussing socio-economic issues and group cohesiveness
– Training on development of rural geochronology extensionist on community nutrition exensionist, livestock, fisheries, plant nursery, crop doctor, power tiller, bee culture, agriculture, goat breading, agro/food processing and entrepreneurship development.
– Training on group dynamics, leadership, governance and advocacy for beneficiaries
– Training on homestead and commercial vegetable cultivation, nursery & fruit tree management, pigeon rearing, goat rearing, cattle rearing, poultry rearing, rice and rice seed production and entrepreneurship
– Asset transfer and Demonstration on all items
– Ensuring services by the rural technology extenionist
– Staff capacity building and linkage development
– Community mobilization
– Vegetable gardening
– Rally, field day, exposer/experience sharing visit and infrastructure development
